TDA2009A BTL 20w Dual Channel Power Amplifier Board uses two TDA2009A chips, connected in BTL mode, can provide 20w output per channel under DC 8-24v power supply, and can drive desktop low-power computer speakers.

The presence of a thermal limiting circuit offers the
following advantages:

1) an overload on the output (even if it is permanent), or an excessive ambient temperature, can be easily withstood.

2) the heat sink can have a smaller factor of safety compared with that of a conventional circuit. There is no device damage in the case of excessive junction temperature : all that happens is that Po (and therefore Ptot) and I o are reduced.

The maximum allowable power dissipation depends upon the size of the external heat sink (i.e., its thermal resistance); Figure 18 shows this dissipate power as a function of ambient temperature for different thermal resistance.

Short circuit (AC Conditions). The TDA2009A can withstand an accidental short circuit from the output and ground made by a wrong connection during normal play operation.The built-in thermal shut-down protection system in the circuit provides several advantages. It can easily withstand an overload on the output or excessive ambient temperature. This allows for a smaller factor of safety for the heat sink compared to a conventional circuit. In the case of excessive junction temperature, there is no device damage, only a reduction in output power and current. The maximum allowable power dissipation depends on the size of the external heat sink. The TDA2009A can also withstand accidental short circuits from the output to ground during normal operation.
